Today I’m making some party giveaway treats for each guest for a sit down dinner Gilligan’s Island themed party for this weekend. I thought a gift bag handed out at dessert for each guest would be a nice treat to remember the evening. This Jamaican Jerk Seasoning Rub is great on fish, poultry, pork, beef or vegetables, you name it; this unusual blend conjures up dreams of islands far away. I made a label with the coat of arms of Jamaica, thought that was appropriate. This item will be in a gift bag for each guest alongside my Toasted Coconut, Almond & Chocolate Chip Granola…recipe soon for the granola.
Jamaican Jerk Seasoning Rub
Yield: Makes just over ¾ cup
1 tablespoon garlic powder
2 teaspoons cayenne pepper
2 teaspoons curry powder
2 teaspoons dried tarragon
2 teaspoons dried oregano
1 tablespoon dried parsley
2 teaspoons kosher salt
¼ cup brown sugar
2 teaspoons dried thyme
4 teaspoons onion powder
2 teaspoons ground allspice
1 teaspoon black pepper
½ teaspoon dried crushed red pepper
½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
Directions:
Mix everything together and put in a tightly closed container in a cool dry place for up to a month for maximum freshness.
