Easy Sausage & Pepper Pizza Bites

February 25, 2019 by Joseph Sciascia Leave a Comment

No need to make pizza dough from scratch to get delicious sausage & pepper pizza on the table with pre-baked pizza crust.  You can put this together in no time and your party guests will think you slaved over this crunchy & cheesy classic pizza flavor.  Perfect for so many parties and what pizza hasn’t been? This makes a perfect appetizer for your next party or cut it into larger portions and you got an easy weekday dinner that your kids will be excited over.   I love the rectangle shape of this pizza crust; it makes it easy to cut into square bites.  You can also make this ahead of time and throw it in the freezer and it will be party ready in about 30 minutes from freezer to oven.

Look at this slab of goodness, if it were a bed, I would take a nap on it…ha, ha
Small pizza bites are party ready in no time…extra pepper flakes & Parmesan for me please!
Yes, I served this at a sophisticated cocktail party among other fancy hors d’oeuvres and this was the first to go! So you see, no matter how many champagne glasses clink and expensive shoes tap on the floor, we all grasp for that ultimate comfort food.
Serving up cheesy & crunchy pizza…quick! See, Italians do it better…

Ingredients

  • 1 pre baked pizza crust; I get the rectangle ones at Trader Joe’s
  • 3/4 cup pizza sauce
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan/Romano cheese blend
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded Mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup frozen mixed bell pepper strips
  • 2 hot Italian sausage links, cooked and sliced thin

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees
  2. On a parchment lined sheet pan lay down one pizza crust
  3. Spread the pizza sauce all over the surface leaving about an inch around the edges with no sauce and sprinkle the dried oregano and the Parmesan/Romano cheese blend over that
  4. Evenly sprinkle the Mozzarella cheese all over the surface, followed by the mixed bell pepper strips

  5. Lastly place the sliced sausage on the top
  6. Place in oven for 25 to 30 minutes if fresh and if you make this ahead of time and freeze, bake it for 30 to 35 minutes, until it’s golden and bubbly

  7. Let rest for about 4 minutes and then cut and serve
  8. Makes 12 appetizer bites enough for 4 to 6 party guests

Recipe Notes

If you want to make both pizza crusts (there’re two in a package, double the recipe)
